Montenegro

Andrew and I recently visited Montenegro . We met the senior couple missionaries who are serving a humanitarian mission (they arrived in Jan 2012) and also the only members in Montenegro, Brother and Sister Fowler and their 4 children. The Fowlers are Americans. Brother Fowler works for the American government at the US embassy in Montenegro. There are no Montenegrin members or investigators!
Church was held at the Fowlers home (for the sacrament part of the meeting) and then at the site of the dedication of the country of Montenegro in the ruins of an old Roman complex (for the testimony meeting). The 2nd photograph attached was taken by “Teak”, one of the Fowler boys, who is 6 years old. He used my phone and did a pretty good job I think. The experience was wonderful and very spiritual and has made a real impression on me that I think will last for a long time!
It is amazing that there are no Montenegrin members! Young missionaries will be sent from Tirana to Montenegro in the next month or so. They will be Albanian and Serbian speaking. Montenegrin is spoken in Montenegro and the closest to that is Serbian. There are also some Albanians in Montenegro. These young missionaries will be the first to preach the restored gospel there. It is exciting and, to use the American term, it is “awesome” to be part of this.
I felt impressed to share this experience with you, so that you know that we are about Heavenly Fathers work, in a remote place, even though it is part of Europe!
The same situation exists in Macedonia. Again, no local members, and again we will be sending in the first missionaries there within a month.

  2. Hey Jessica! I started this blog over a year ago for my parents but they just haven't had the time to keep up with it. They will be the Mission Presidents until June 2014 ;)
